Foundations in Heritage Bursary Scheme
Foundations in Heritage is a bursary scheme offering opportunities to work alongside skilled heritage builders and to achieve NVQ level 3 in Heritage Skills (construction). The first 12-month placement programme will begin in September 2011 with the second beginning in September 2012.
Trainees will develop existing skills or improve their knowledge and experience of conservation and repair of historic buildings, structures and/or sites. The scheme provides the opportunity to specialise in carpentry, stone masonry, roofing or plastering.
Trainees will be supervised by experienced craftspeople on heritage sites and in workshops across Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
Funding for the scheme has been secured through a Heritage Lottery Fund grant along with a grant through the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013 which is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
